This guide explains the requirements for immigrating to Canada as an independent immigrant. It will also help you to decide if you would be eligible to apply as an independent immigrant for permanent residence in Canada.
Anyone who wants to immigrate to Canada as an independent immigrant must apply for an immigrant visa.
To get a visa you must:

  be assessed against a point based selection system to see if            you qualify;
  have a valid passport or travel document;
  be able to support yourself and your dependants in Canada:
  be of good health and character;
  pay a non-refundable processing fee, and
  pay a refundable " Right of landing fee ".
